Daylight Saving Time

Hosea 10:12 – Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unploughed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord. (NIV)

I don't think I'd have been of much use to a company if I'd had to work shift work. If I were wakened in the night when my children were small, I'd stumble about in the dark trying to help them with whatever was needed, then I'd make a dive back to my warm bed as soon as possible. So you can imagine how tired I was after making an overnight flight to Britain, and how happy I was to see the following sign posted on the door of our guest room at the bed and breakfast where we were staying: "Dear guests, Daylight Saving Time ends tomorrow. Please remember to set your clocks back an hour."

"Perfect! An extra hour to catch up on my sleep!" I said to my husband. But my joy was short-lived, for when we came back to the room after our evening meal, another sign greeted us, "Sorry for the inconvenience, but Daylight Saving Time ends next week."

God has publicized signs of His time schedule in the Bible, and He doesn't make mistakes. In order to be ready for His appointed time, we need to receive His gift of saving grace by accepting Jesus Christ as our Saviour. Now is the time for us to seek righteousness; now is the time for us to seek the Lord.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for Your gift of salvation. Help us to seek Your righteousness while we still have time. Amen.
