Seek Jesus Continually

Listen to this devotional:

Psalm 105:4 – Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. (NIV)

It was 1:30 on a cold, stormy, winter morning, and I was in labour with our first child. I was standing outside, while my husband chased a taxicab a block away. The snow was falling quickly, and all around me was quiet. At that moment, I was feeling scared and alone. I was praying to God for safety, when, to my great relief, a taxi drove up, with my husband inside. This was the beginning of a new adventure.

Why is it that we seem to call on God only in times of stress? Jesus wants us to have a continual relationship with Him. He wants to be involved in everything we do, from the first time we open our eyes in the morning, through the day as we go about our responsibilities, right to the moment when we close our eyes at bedtime.

When we seek God continually, we will start to feel more peace in our hearts and minds, while at the same time noticing that our prayers are being answered. We will have a sense of His presence always with us, and we will learn to put our trust in Him. We will know that God is listening to us. So, we should remember to include God in every part of our lives and watch for the blessings He will bestow upon us.

Psalm 116:1-2 – I love the Lord, because he has heard my voice and my supplications. Because he inclined His ear to me, therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live. (RSV)

Prayer: Dear God, please help us to remember to include You in all we do, knowing that You are always listening to us, and knowing that You are always with us and willing to help us. Amen.
