Working On The Reunions

1 Peter 1:3,8,9 – Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. This summer saw the fruition of two reunions, both of which I had worked on via e-mail over a period of more than a year, with friends I'd not seen for 10 or 15 years.

During the planning, we didn't meet face to face, as all of us live in different parts of two provinces, and both reunions were being held in a community in which most of us are not presently residing. One was a school reunion, which I wasn't able to attend, due to the birth of my granddaughter. The other was a first-ever reunion of the community in which I'd spent my younger years, and it would be a coming together for many of us who hadn't seen each other for some 30 to 45 years.

Though some of us who worked on the reunions neither spoke on the phone nor met face to face during the entire planning, we trusted and believed in each other to do what needed to be done. It was a wonderful testament of faith and friendship.

As each step was met, as each challenge was overcome, and as the gifts of help from unexpected areas arose, I was constantly reminded of my daily walk with faith in our Lord. In planning, we didn't expect everything to go completely smoothly, for it is the challenges, the changes, and the little glitches that we work on together that become the glue to strengthen our relationships. And so it is with God. Our life's challenges, changes, and glitches strengthen our faith, and help us to develop a deeper relationship with Him.

Prayer: Thank you, Father, for always giving us new ways to renew and refresh, and to develop and deepen our relationship with you, and with those you have chosen to grace our path in this life's journey. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
