Psalm 31:1 – In you, O Lord, I have taken refuge. (NIV)
Psalm 25:1-2 – To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul; in you I trust, O my God. (NIV)
On my way to work early one morning, I ran into a heavy fog that obscured the road. Visibility was so bad that I could not see beyond the front of the car. The car lights seemed to glare into nothingness. On either side, giant walls of shrouded green closed in on me. Behind, the vapours closed again into grey mists, denying that the car had just passed through.
In faith, I moved along, knowing that, above and beyond the mists, God was leading, though visibility was temporarily obscured. I knew that, beyond the mist, there would be light, and the clearing would be coming soon. So, with faith, I pressed the accelerator and moved the car forward slowly. It was as though giant arms surrounded me saying, "You can do it. The road is clear ahead." I felt safe and protected as I moved slowly through the fog. Finally, I reached its edge, and, sure enough, the light was there and growing brighter.
Just as God was there in the fog when I placed my faith in Him, He'll always be there to go with us through the unknown mists of our lives that will obstruct our paths. When we call on His name and place our faith in Him, He'll lead us to the light.
Prayer: Father, we know that you are out there in the mist as well as beyond, it. You will guide us to the light beyond if we place our faith in you. Amen.
