Coming Again

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "While Shepherds Watched"1 (Lyrics)

It's the season.
He's the reason.
It's that time of year again when we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
Born in a lowly stable.
Heralded by a host of angels.
Worshipped by shepherds and wise men.
A tiny baby.
A mighty Saviour.

In these days of Advent, may we be aware of who we are celebrating and why He came to earth.
Jesus Messiah.
The Saviour of the world.
He came to save us from our sins.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23 NKJV)
God's plan of salvation for all of mankind.
Emmanuel.
God with us.

May we also not forget that He will come again in all His glory.
King of kings.
Lord of lords.
Prince of Peace.
And He shall reign forever and ever.

1 Thessalonians 4:16a – For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. (NKJV)

Acts 1:11 – Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven. (NKJV)

Are you ready?

Have you turned from your sin and accepted Him into your heart as Lord and Saviour?
Are you living the life that God has called you to live?
Seeking His kingdom first?
Shining His light into the world around you?

Jesus is coming again!
Make sure you're ready.

Titus 2:11-13 – For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God, while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed. (NLT)

Luke 12:35-36,40 – Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning, as though you were waiting for your master to return from the wedding feast. Then you will be ready to open the door and let him in the moment he arrives and knocks. You also must be ready all the time, for the Son of Man will come when least expected. (NLT)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who came to us as a tiny baby, to be the Saviour of the world and to save us from our sins. We thank You for the promise that He will come again in all His glory and that at the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Come, Lord Jesus, come. We pray in Your holy name. Amen.
