Come To God's Light

1 John 1:5 – This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. (NKJV)

Remember the bogeyman? I do, vividly. Many of us were afraid of the dark when we were children. I was always calling my mother to check and make sure there wasn't anyone under my bed. In those days, we had no electricity, so it was pitch black. I suspect that, like me, many others, when tucking children in for the night, have had a request to leave a light on, because the children were afraid of the dark. I have always obliged, as I remembered how I felt at their age.

During the early days of the spiritual attacks which I have been going through, I could not handle the darkness at all. Every light in the house had to be turned on before I could even try to sleep. Every nook and cranny had to be searched because I was sure someone was lurking there. It was a great benefit to the utility company, as we consumed more energy.

Satan was lurking in the darkness; the closer I tried to draw to God, the more I was attacked.

Through God's mercy and grace, the darkness has been turned into light — God's light. The only light left on in the house now is a night-light to show the way to the bathroom. God's light illuminates everything for me now.

Isaiah 9:2 – The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a light has shined. (NKJV)

In our hearts, once we know that we walk with God, there is no need for fear of the dark times. God knows every nook and cranny of our lives. By holding onto our faith, we come shining through with Jesus, and walk in the light.

Prayer: Dear God, thank You for bringing us through the many dark times in our lives. Your light, which shines as a beacon of hope, gives us the assurance that we can make it through each day when we walk with You. Amen.
