The Happy Ending

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Angels We Have Heard On High"1 (Lyrics)

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (NIV)

Ephesians 2:8-9 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. (NIV)

Ah, it's Christmas movie time once again, and how I love the collection we have compiled over the years: comedies, dramas, and musicals — so many, in fact, that we can watch a different one almost every evening during the Advent season. Then, there are all the Christmas movies that the television networks display, with each year bringing one or two new ones to be viewed and critiqued. Yes, a good Christmas movie always has a special place in my heart, for they all have happy endings, and I'm a sucker for a happy ending.

In reality, happy endings are not always found here on earth, but God, in His great love and mercy, has made provision for those who choose to have a happy ending for eternity.

John 3:16-17 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (NIV)

God loved. God gave. Have you truly believed and received His gift of love, His Son Jesus Christ? If so, then God has saved you from an eternal, unhappy ending. So rejoice, for your sins are forgiven, your life is redeemed, and the Spirit of the living God, Christ the Lord, resides in you now and forevermore.

Merry Christmas and a happy ending!

Prayer: Thank You, Lord Jesus, for the gift of an eternal, happy ending which is offered to all mankind. May many this Christmas season choose to believe and receive the great gift of God's unending love for them. In Christ's name, we ask. Amen.

Blessed Christmas to you across the miles!

Lynne – this was a great message and I really liked your analogy. I also enjoy watching movies with happy endings. I plan to watch one called “Christmas Miracle” soon; not sure of the ending but it sounds like it will be a good one.
    Christmas blessings.

Your devotion is always uplifting and positive Lynne thank you for this joyful Christmas one
Today is garbage day and by 9 am all of my garbage had been picked up it never fails to make me feel happy ..sort of weird perhaps, but I am certain there is an analogy in there too..
