2 Peter 3:14 – Therefore, beloved, while you are waiting for these things, strive to be found by him at peace, without spot or blemish; and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation.
The Chinese have a way of saying a great deal using simple characters that join together to convey meaning. They have a character that stands for peace. It is made up of three separate characters. The first is ping, meaning equality. Peace, they say, comes when no one seeks to dominate another. The second part of the character is pa, which is represented, in the Chinese writing, by a woman under a roof. Peace comes when homes are unmolested and tranquil. The last part of the character is ho — a character combining mouth and grain. Peace is obtained when all have sufficient to eat.
- Ping. Pa. Ho.
The risen Christ came with the affirmation "Peace be with you", and invites us to find a fullness of life that goes beyond anything we have ever experienced in the past.
Shalom.
Prayer: Prince of Peace, Help me to seek peace this day — peace in my family, among friends, with the congregation of your people and in the world around me. Let me witness to a peace that is inclusive of equality, freedom from fear, and justice for all, for I ask it in the name of the risen Lord. Amen.
