Learning And Loving Through Service

Matthew 25:39-40 – And when was it we saw you sick or in prison and visited you? And the king will answer them, "Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me."

Yesterday here in Daily we visited the Daybreak Prison Ministry and the new Gene MacLellan Centre. What I didn't tell you was how I got there.

Presbyterian Youth from the Pictou County area representing about a half dozen churches joined forces to help get the old laundry ready for the new Prison Ministry. Church youth groups went to work inside and out – moving materials and sweeping floors inside, forming huge chains to move mountains of brick and debris on the outside. Here's a new twist for Presbyterians Sharing… and the gift of labour was given in love to people most of these youth will never meet. Royce Harris, the Director, shared the dream of what this place will soon be. We felt we had a part in this wonderful outreach. One of the kids closed in prayer, thanking God for this place and the opportunity to share.

Thanks be to God.

Prayer: We praise you, God, for every opportunity to put faith in action, for the ability to express the surpassing joy of knowing Jesus, and for lives to live for his glory and praise. Amen.
