Locked Out?

Tuesday, February 4, 2003 Rod Marshall

On Mondays, I work late, so I go in later. I start to prepare myself by anticipating what likely maelstrom may have occurred in my absence. I prepare my tea, make my sandwiches, and check my bag for my mug. … Read more

Finding A Filter That Fits

Monday, February 3, 2003 Mary Daniel

A recent incident involving a procedure to eliminate things I don't wish to receive through my e-mail caused even these Daily devotionals not to come through. They'd been "filtered out" — much like sunglasses, suntan lotion, special clothing or a … Read more

Undercover

Sunday, February 2, 2003 Kathleen Ageton

I enjoy watching mystery programs on television. I especially love episodes in which a detective goes undercover. It's fascinating that a detective can pretend to be an executive or a waiter or someone else, in order to secretly fulfill another … Read more

Thoughts On The Worker Bee

Saturday, February 1, 2003 Helen Marr

An aeronautical engineer would tell us that, on account of its design, a bee should not be able to fly — but it does. The honeybee is the only member of numerous bee species which produces that sweet treat that … Read more

Harbour To Harbour

Friday, January 31, 2003 Mary Daniel

Living on an island on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada, leaves us with basically three commercial modes of transportation to and from the mainland. We may travel by foot or by car using one of two ferries. One … Read more

Jesus Is My Blankie

Thursday, January 30, 2003 Julie Donner Andersen

My almost three-year-old toddler has a treasured item, which, much to my embarrassment, she insists on carting around with her everywhere she goes. It is her beloved "Blankie", a well-worn and tattered but much-loved fleece baby afghan blanket. She sleeps … Read more

Blowing In The Wind

Wednesday, January 29, 2003 Harold Moddle

A few months ago, the remnant of a tropical storm howled through our city. The next morning when I awoke, I went to my window to see what, if any, damage had been done. The breeze was now gentler, and … Read more

Growing Old

Tuesday, January 28, 2003 Kirsti Sipila

It was time to have my hearing tested. While I waited at the doctor's office for my appointment, around me, I observed fellow geriatrics with walkers and canes. A lady with a hearing aid smiled from her chair to everyone. … Read more

Playing Lumberjack

Monday, January 27, 2003 Ken Bakewell

Years ago, the boys in my neighbourhood used to play a very dangerous game called "lumberjack". It was something our parents did not know about, and it was very foolish to take chances with our lives in this fashion. One … Read more

Get Cracking!

Sunday, January 26, 2003 Kenn Stright

A sledgehammer? I'm holding a sledgehammer and tearing down a wall! This isn't what I thought when I heard the words "inner city mission", but here I am with crowbar, hammer, and helmet. Evergreen Mission to street kids is expanding, … Read more

Worldwide Ministry

Pray
Wednesday, November 4, 2026 – In Asia — Recently, our team held an outreach in a neighbouring district, sharing the gospel house by house in four new villages. At one home, two women chose to follow Jesus. When we returned the next day, they had already invited two more women, who also accepted Jesus. A few days later, four more neighbours were waiting! Pray for continued growth of house churches, deepening faith and strength in the face of persecution for all these new believers.

Today's Thought

The greatest proof of Christianity for others is not how far a man can logically analyze his reasons for believing, but how far in practice he will stake his life on his belief. – T. S. Eliot6
