Luke 11:9 – And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. (KJV)
Recently I went through a week of "finding passage" in several different ways.
Our youngest daughter had spent the previous 2 1/2 months backpacking across Europe with three of her friends and although it had been an incredible experience, funds were running a little low and they decided they had best get home a bit earlier than planned and get back to work in preparation for the fall semester. Changing their tickets and "finding passage" on an earlier flight took some time and prayers, but was accomplished and they were able to be home in two weeks' time.
Often it takes time to "find the passage", the appropriate scripture, for these devotionals, but never so long as one on which I was working that week. I read and read. I'd leave it and come back to it. One day I came back to it three times until finally after over an hour that night, I laid the Bible down, put my pen in the open crease, prayed that at some point I "find the correct passage" and turned in. When I got up the next morning, the verse seemed to loom out of the page, right beside my pen.
There is one more.
A terminally ill friend had been struggling for some time. That same week was by far the most gruelling and we prayed that my friend "find passage" peacefully soon. The request was granted in the clear calm of the early morning.
God does hear and answer our prayers, no matter how large or small the request. We must always remember that it takes time, patience and sincerity. When it is time, we are given, having asked; found, having been sought; and opened, having knocked.
Prayer: We thank you Lord, for hearing our prayers. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
