Hebrews 11:32,34 – And what more should I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets – quenched raging fire, escaped the edge of the sword, won strength out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
Mallott one commented: "Without heroes plain people don't know how far they can go." Some world-famous people may be worthy of admiration such as Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandella, Martin Luther King Jr. But for today, look a little closer to home and you might very well see the heroes you are looking for: parents, teachers, neighbours, church elders and others whose positive qualities merit admiration and emulation. And the question is, "what makes for the right stuff?" The bible says that such folk seek first the reign of God and righteousness. The right stuff is getting the priorities of life right, and this means living life to the full in the love of God made known in Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Lord, for all the saints we give you thanks. You were their rock, their fortress and their might; you, Lord, the captain of their cause in the well-fought fight; you, in the day of darkness, were their one true light. Hallelujah! Amen.
