God Hears, God Answers

Psalm 22:14b-15a – My heart has turned to wax; it has melted away within me. My strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth. (NIV)

In general, I don't do too badly with words, though I can be silenced by unexpected grievous circumstances. There have been times when I did not know what or how to pray — so emotionally overwhelmed and silenced was I by adverse events. Mercifully, Jesus has always responded to my need of Him by answering with His gracious love.

Often distressed through trials, King David knew right well the comfort that comes from knowing that the Lord mercifully hears the need and ache in our silent prayers: "O Lord, You have heard the desire and the longing of the humble and oppressed; You will prepare and strengthen and direct their hearts, You will cause Your ear to hear." (Psalm 10:17 AMP)

Oh, yes, when we are broken-hearted, and able only to weep, groan, or sigh, we need not fear our emotional, inept silences before our compassionate Lord Jesus, for we still catch every bit of His loving attention. May we be comforted, for every painful, heart-wrenching emotion is significant to our hearing, answering Lord.

Our tears are as jewels to Him, our sighs as mournful music to His ear. Every distress weakly emitted from us is imperative to our Jesus Lord. Our sorrowful hearts are as a precious perfume to Him, "And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces." (Isaiah 25:8a AMP)

God's answers may not be whatever we have in mind, but we can believe that everything from our God is not only His very best, but also according to His highest good for us. In His divine purposes and love, He wants to bring us through every distress, test, trial, and valley the easiest and quickest way we may willingly come. Selah! Let us pause, and calmly think about that.

Oh! that this grace knowledge might be sufficient for His children! God loves us! He always hears! He always perfectly understands! Our Most High God always answers us in His perfect way and perfect time! Even in our hurting silences, we can choose to thank Him and praise Him, to bless His ever-gracious name and remain trustingly open to Him!

Prayer: Merciful, compassionate Lord, thank You that no matter what our emotional condition, You always hear our hearts. We are ever so precious to You that it is always the desire of Your heart to answer, comfort, heal, refresh, renew, change, and bless us in Your many loving ways. Blessed Saviour, we gratefully thank You. Amen and Amen!
