Uncertain Times Of Change

Listen to this devotional:

Psalm 37:4 – Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart. (NIV)

Like many here in Canada, I've been thinking about the changes in our own government and the uncertainty of its stability. I've also thought about the change of government that has taken place recently in the United States. With hopes held high, no one can be certain about the success of the proposed changes; only time will tell. We have war in the Middle East and in Afghanistan. All creation falters due to man's corruption and greed. The downturn in the world's financial markets has left many in a tailspin. There are companies that have gone bankrupt, resulting in jobs being lost and homes that can't be kept intact because of all this turmoil.

Many of us have had hard decisions to make; some have had heavy losses to cope with, struggling to get their lives back together. Right now, it seems that our emotional and spiritual lives are drained right out.

Not knowing the sorrows or the joys, the triumphs or difficulties that may lie ahead, we must go forward in faith, believing in the guiding hand of God. Let us find in Him the courage to keep us going, knowing that our God is ever with us, no matter what change might bring.

1 Kings 8:57-58a – May the Lord our God be with us as he was with our fathers; may he never leave us nor forsake us. May he turn our hearts to him, to walk in all his ways. (NIV)

Numbers 6:24-26 – The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face towards you and give you peace. (NIV)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, in these uncertain times of change, may we not be overcome in our lives. Instead, may we be filled with hope, acknowledging our confidence in the promises You have given to us. Open our eyes to the possibilities and not the problems. Never knowing what the future holds, enable us to be aware that it is You, O God, who has the master plan. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
