God: An Invitation

Monday, May 5, 1997

2 Timothy 1:12 – I am not ashamed for I know the one in whom I have put my trust, and I am sure that he is able to guard until that day what I have entrusted to him.

It is this God revealed in Jesus Christ that invites you today to choose what you will do with this gift called life, and with the time and talent and treasure entrusted to you. This God invites you into an adventure of faith which will transform your life forever.

I don't know how your personal biography of God begins or ends or what it contains page after page. Maybe, as Living Faith says, God is an empty word for you, devoid of meaning. But I do know how my personal biography of God begins.

The first paragraph begins: "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God…"

And the second paragraph begins: "In Christ God was reconciling the world, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting the message of reconciliation to us…"

And the third paragraph begins: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son…"

And the fourth paragraph begins…

Prayer: Holy God, holy and immortal, holy and invisible, only wise God, I come in my need and in my ignorance this day, knowing that you will meet my every need and open my eyes to see Jesus. Grant us this day a fuller vision of You as I walk through this day and all the days you grant me in Christ. Amen.
