Philippians 3:8 – I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. (NIV)

I've recently started watching the popular TV series, "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?" I like to see if I can answer the questions, and it's always interesting to watch the contestants to see whether they'll risk the money or walk away when they run out of lifelines. The question that Regis always asks — "Is that your final answer?" — got me thinking about our decision to accept or not to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour.

A relationship with Jesus Christ is worth more than a million dollars!

Jesus Christ is everything we'll ever need.

He is:

  • Our strength when we are weak

  • Our shelter in the storm

  • Our friend in times of need

  • The truth that sets us free

  • The anchor for our souls

  • Our comfort in times of sorrow

  • Our message of hope in a dark world

We are called to let Jesus Christ be the most important person in our lives. Unlike a million dollars, which can be wasted away, Jesus is forever. Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus. Nothing!

Today let each of us renew the commitment we have already made to the Lord or receive Jesus as our Lord and Saviour for the first time, and, as we do, let us ask ourselves: "Is that my final answer?"

John 1:12 – Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. (NIV)

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You give us many opportunities to hear Your Word and to respond to Your call. Help us today to answer that call and may it be our "final answer". May we be Yours forever. In Jesus' name. Amen.
