Prickles On Thistles

Saturday, July 24, 2004 Elaine Ingalls Hogg

Perhaps because of my Scottish connections, I've long admired a colourful, purple plant, the thistle. So last summer when I discovered a thistle growing out of a pile of rocks, I took a picture. Most of us would see little … Read more

The Better Part

Friday, July 23, 2004 Ivie Bozeman

I have a friend, much like Martha, with whom I entertain occasionally. She is one of the most capable people I've ever known. Her house is spotless; she's a wonderful cook and an excellent hostess. I've never known her to … Read more

Directionally Challenged

Thursday, July 22, 2004 Elaine Ingalls Hogg

One Saturday, I was invited to speak at a fellowship breakfast being hosted at a country Bed and Breakfast. The only problem was that I tend to be directionally challenged, and the home was in the country. "All you do … Read more

A Harmony Of Praise

Monday, July 19, 2004 Judith Welch

One morning recently, I awoke early, feeling sad. Where could I turn for wisdom and understanding? The previous day's events lay heavy on my heart. I had been in a situation where many opinions had been expressed. To say the … Read more

Living Outside The Box

At a recent conference that I attended, I was reminded about how easy it is to look for answers within our box of understanding. Often it is not until we look beyond the box that we discover the answer to … Read more

Broccoli Soup

Thursday, July 15, 2004 Elaine Ingalls Hogg

"Never hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk." This was one of the statements on an e-mail list containing "great truths children have learned", and it reminded me of something in my own childhood. On my seventh … Read more

Worldwide Ministry

Pray
Monday, September 7, 2026 – In Angola — Please pray for our rural church people who are struggling with poverty. For job opportunities for them. So many families struggle to even have enough food. We give thanks for the abundant rain for crops, as one man said, "rain gives life"! With the rains come many cases of malaria and now some of the mud brick houses are collapsing as foundations are not well built. Pray that their faith will hold strong.
