Castaways

Friday, April 5, 2002 Rosemary Hagedorn

With spring slowly approaching, I decided to tackle the big job of sorting all the clothing that I own into a "storage for next winter" pile, a "give-away" pile and an "undecided" pile. I find it simply amazing how much … Read more

Excess Baggage

We're in the process of moving, after living in the same house for the past 31 years. I can't believe how much we've accumulated over the years! I'm trying to sort through things as I pack, and not keep anything … Read more

Although this winter has now been declared the warmest on record for us in Southern Ontario, Canada, there have still been a few storms we could have done without. We had one such storm recently. Even though it was still … Read more

Broken Branches

Tuesday, April 2, 2002 Mary Daniel

If you were to discuss the West Coast of Canada with anyone, you might likely be told that "it never snows there", though indeed it does. We had quite a heavy snowfall the first week of February. Soft, wet, heavy … Read more

Free Indeed

Monday, April 1, 2002 Jim Messmer

The cold rain had been falling all morning. Not a fit day outside for man or beast, I thought to myself, quite content to have no reason at all to venture out, away from dry house and hot cup of … Read more

Remembering His Words

Sunday, March 31, 2002 Anne Russell

When I awakened this morning, the sun was just peeking over the roof of the house across the street. During the winter months, I can't see the sun, as it is too far south, but at this time, in the … Read more

Hot Cross Buns

Saturday, March 30, 2002 Mary Jane Hanson

Although I enjoy eating hot cross buns, I do not make them. I simply purchase them from the bakery. However, I believe many people bake hot cross buns, and even a cursory search of the Internet confirms this fact. Dozens … Read more

The Cup

We are approaching the Easter season. It always brings to mind our trip to Israel, where we walked in the footsteps of Jesus, from Palm Sunday to the Passover, the last time Jesus would partake of supper with his disciples. … Read more

Carrying The Cross

Wednesday, March 27, 2002 Mary Daniel

It was just a little three-and-a-half inch by one-and-a-half inch article halfway down page five in the morning newspaper: "Catholics To Hold Cross High". It stated that as part of World Youth Day Celebrations, a twelve-foot-high cross was going to … Read more

Worldwide Ministry

Pray
Monday, September 7, 2026 – In Angola — Please pray for our rural church people who are struggling with poverty. For job opportunities for them. So many families struggle to even have enough food. We give thanks for the abundant rain for crops, as one man said, "rain gives life"! With the rains come many cases of malaria and now some of the mud brick houses are collapsing as foundations are not well built. Pray that their faith will hold strong.
