He Will Give The Spirit

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Jesus Shall Reign"1 (Lyrics)

Jude 1:20 – But you, beloved, build yourselves up [founded] on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit. (AMPC)

When I was younger in the faith, I recall God starting to teach me about the person of the Holy Spirit. On weekends, I would locate a public school close to my house and find an open, shaded place devoid of distractions. Then, I would sit there and pray in the Holy Spirit for a few hours.

As I sustained my fellowship with the Holy Spirit, I began noticing a huge difference in my understanding of Scripture whenever I read the Bible. It was as if the scales on my eyes had fallen off. I could go out on evangelism and preach boldly. The fire of hunger for God in me increased tremendously.

As believers, if we truly desire to walk in the supernatural, in holiness, and in God's will for our lives, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit and be constantly in fellowship with Him. It's almost an exercise in frustration trying to walk in holiness without the help of the Holy Spirit, for only the Holy Spirit can help our spiritual weaknesses and strengthen us when the chips are down.

The Holy Spirit also helps us to pray when we need help in praying.

Romans 8:26 – So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance. (AMPC)

As the Day of Pentecost approaches, let's decide to make the Holy Spirit our friend and to fellowship with Him constantly, creating a deeper fellowship with God. We can be sure that when we ask the Father to give us the Holy Spirit, He will do so, for He is loving and willing to give when we ask.

Luke 11:13 – If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him! (AMPC)

So, friend, be bold to ask the Father today to fill you with the Holy Spirit. He will do exactly that. As we continue to fellowship with the Holy Spirit, we will continue to walk in God's divine plan for our lives as the Spirit guides each of us into all truth. Pray with me:

Prayer: Father Almighty, I thank You for the free gift of Your Holy Spirit. I ask, Lord, that You would fill me with Your Spirit this day and help me to walk in understanding, in faith, in holiness, and in Your divine plan for my life. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

    Blessings.

Thank you for that important reminder, Owen. May God continue to bless you every day!

    HI,
Thanks for the insights and reminder… ‘one may not know what to pray for’… ‘person’ of Holy Spirit.

We don’t need to ask God to give us the Holy Spirit because when one accepts Jesus, he automatically receives the Holy Spirit.

God bless you for this mighty devotion. Wow, encouraging and something I need to get me going. It is so true. Thank you and may the Holy Spirit touch you today in a new and exciting way.

    Good morning, Owen,
I always appreciate your devotionals so much. Thank you for this meditation on the Holy Spirit. Yes, God is so willing to give His good gifts when we ask.

Dear Owen. This reading is so right on with the Spirit and coming Pentecost and our prayers for understanding Him more deeply. Thank you.
May you be flooded with His Dunamis – power for ministry.
    Shalom.

    Greetings Owen,
Thank you for your very meaningful devotional this morning. Yes, our loving Lord is ever ready to give us what we ask, and our life certainly is better having the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. Blessings to you for contributing writings to the devotionals.

    Dear Owen,
Thank you for the great reminder of the power available to us through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Sometimes I forget to access all my rights given us in our heavenly citizenship!
I pray for you and your country, Nigeria always.
Blessings to you, brother in Christ.

    Dear Brother-in-Christ:
Thank you so very much for this wonderful devotional about God’s Holy Spirit – our Comforter and Guide.
I was raised by wonderful Christian parents and grandparents, in a Baptist Church. Out of my years, I have walked with Jesus Christ for 70+ of them. My two grown children, their families, and my husband, all walk with Jesus. Praise His Holy Name!!!
I am amazed and saddened by the number of churches that skirt around the Holy Spirit, leaving Him out or misunderstanding His importance.
Blessings and prayers for your health and safety during these trying times.
Our God is in control and will be glorified in all His actions and in we, His children, who are filled with His Spirit!

Lovely to read this testimony of your faith today, Owen.

    Dear Owen,
Thanks for a great devotional in preparation for Pentecost Sunday.
    God bless you.

    Thanks. I needed that!
