Several years ago, when our praise team was practicing Christmas songs, I was challenged to write words to fit one of the songs that we were learning, "Emmanuel Has Come" by Don Moen, because we all loved the tune. Before our practice was over, I had come up with these lyrics:

Jesus is our Lord and Saviour
Jesus is our God and King
Jesus is the One who died to set us free
Lift your voice and sing His praises
Lift your voice and praise His name
Lift your voice and give the glory all to Him

    Chorus:
    We lift our voices
And we praise His holy name
    We give Him glory
We bow down and worship Christ our King
    For He is worthy
He has broken chains that bind us
    He has saved us
We bow down and worship Christ our King

Every knee shall bow before Him
    Every tongue confess His name
We believe He died to save us, our Redeemer
All our sins have been forgiven
Jesus gave His life for us
Let the earth rejoice and praise His holy name

    Chorus

Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, is surely worthy of all our praise each and every day of our lives!

He died for our sins. He gave His life for us.
Galatians 1:4 – Jesus gave his life for our sins, just as God our Father planned, in order to rescue us from this evil world in which we live. (NLT)

Our sins are forgiven.
1 John 1:9 – If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)

He is worthy.
Revelation 5:12a – In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain." (NIV)

One day, every knee shall bow and every tongue confess His name.
Romans 14:11 – For the scripture says, "As surely as I am the living God, says the Lord, everyone will kneel before me, and everyone will confess that I am God." (GNT)

Let the earth rejoice and praise His holy name!

Prayer: Father God, we thank You for Jesus, our Lord and our Saviour. He alone is worthy of all our praise. We lift our voices and praise His holy name together. We lift our voices and give Him all the glory now and forevermore. We pray in His holy name. Amen.
