Encouragement

Galatians 6:9 – Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (NIV)

Of late, I have come to this place to write, and I have started several messages that came to nothing. I paused today and asked God to inspire me, that I may be used of Him to give you a word of encouragement.

As I sat looking at the computer screen saver that was given to me as a gift, today's scripture, the words of Paul, came up on the screen and reached out to me with encouragement: let us not become weary in doing good.

Just now, I must leave to go to the shuffleboard court to fill in for someone who can't be there. I am doing so begrudgingly, simply because I didn't join the club this year, and have been used more often as a spare than had I been a regular member.

The thing that makes it all worthwhile is that I am never playing the game for myself, but for someone else. I try to win even though it is not for me, and, in some ways, I try harder to win for them.

So it is with all we do in our Christian life. We should not do things begrudgingly, but with fervour, and not grow weary in well doing. My friends, as we journey on, doing things for others, may we be an encouragement to them, and, in so doing, we will reap the harvest, if we do not give up.

Prayer: Let not our hearts be troubled, for You, oh God, are in control. Let us not grow weary of well doing as we come to You in prayer, praying that we will be given strength and insight to know what Your will is. May we strive to walk in Your ways to encourage one another. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
