John 8:12 – Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. (KJV)
Because of our past year, we are perhaps anticipating a new year of shadows and darkness, but regardless, has not our Jesus brought us through to this moment in time? If we could see the future, would we require faith? If we were to see the future, would we have the courage to meet that coming day?
As the ballad writer suggests, "One day at a time, sweet Jesus."
As we consider the shadows and darkness of this, our moment in time, Jesus lifts our eyes to view Himself as the light: light which lifts us to another dimension, light which will not only take us through the difficulties of this world, but light which will also lead us to another world of endless joy unspeakable!
A short time ago, I was given the following little prayer which I would like to share with you:
Lord, order my day.
Have Your own way.
May I see the need
For others, I plead.
May I give for their needy task.
Just for this day, I ask
To give and forget
Without a regret.
Just to live this day
In holiness, I pray.
Prayer: Our gracious heavenly Father, may we be given Your light which will shine through any darkness to lead us in the way in which You would want us to go, physically and spiritually, in this coming year 2015. We pray in the name of Your Son and our Saviour, Christ Jesus. Amen.

Saturday, May 18, 2024 – In North Africa — Living in North Africa we get so used to hearing the call to prayer it becomes like background noise and sometimes I don't hear it anymore. I am challenged by the fact that some Muslims are so committed to pray that they go to the mosque 5 times a day. Would you consider, with me, setting your alarm to go off at 3:00 every day and pray for these three things: 5 families to come to know Christ, 3 people for us to read scripture with,1 new church plant.
Housing: "Update May 16, 2024: Please continue to pray for T and her son A to find a different apartment...."

Hi Vena: What a great reminder as we face this coming New Year! Our world, as we know, is in such turmoil and there are so many hurting hearts all around us. I also think of our Brothers and Sisters in Christ who are being tortured and murdered for their Faith in Jesus. How they need our Prayers! Thank You, too, for that beautiful Poem. I’m going to write it down as it’s one that I need to pray every day. I pray God’s Richest Blessing on you, Vena, and may we always keep our eyes on Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our Faith.

Dear Vena,
Thank you for blessing me with this devotional.
And I pray that God will lighten the dark places in our lives.
So often darkness comes from misunderstandings. Let us pray, “Lord let us love one another beyond all held against us erroneously, and even beyond the percentage of misunderstanding that is caused by our own doings. And, “Lord lead us into reconciliations beyond our own powers. Surprise us in bringing peace and joy.”
