Ephesians 4:22-23 – So get rid of your old self, which made you live as you used to — the old self that was being destroyed by its deceitful desires. Your hearts and minds must be made completely new. (GNT)
Ephesians 4:22-24 – You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (NIV)
The seasons change almost too quickly for my liking. But this is the way it is, and I must comply, even though I would prefer to see a recycling of the times from bad to better – a recycling of all that lacks consideration and compassion individually and among the human race. I have heard some say that we need a change now and quickly, on account of the way things are on this globe among the seven-plus billion inhabitants. Exactly my thoughts!
One does not have to watch or read the news for long before it becomes apparent that corruption and the power of darkness are all around. Goodwill among men is a far cry, and peace is not a present truth in the lives of many.
Darkness has swallowed billions, and not a ray of hope is shed among those who seek not the kingdom of God and His righteousness. Yet all who do seek God and the righteousness of Him whose love is beyond human understanding find exceeding hope in the faith that trusts and obeys God's Word. It is as if a magnificent recycling is needed to take action in the mind and heart of those who have never heard of salvation as a gift from God. So where the gospel of Jesus is spread and repentance is sown in hearts and minds, there will be new beings with recycled hearts and minds, rejoicing in the new life from God through Jesus Christ, who is the sacrificial Lamb of God come down from heaven.
God wants well-being for His people — all who make a turnabout decision to obey and trust Him. Let us proceed with the godly recycling of our living. Let us examine ourselves, inspect our attitudes, open our hearts to God, seek a closer relationship with Jesus, ask to be filled with the Holy Spirit, read His Word, surrender all to God, go to a deep inner place to find God most high, and empty all of self so that Jesus can enter and fill our cup of salvation. Seek God's help — He sees the tears of deep need, and He understands — that's the main thing!
Prayer: Our God in heaven, the problem with the world is that it does not know Your love. The problem with us Christians is that we are not fully surrendered to You. We pray for the recycling of the minds and hearts of all who lack real life in Jesus Christ, the Saviour and Lord who came from heaven to bring us to His heaven as His followers, disciples, and servants. We pray for a family of billions reunited with You in Your heaven. Thank You, Jesus, for saving all who believe in Your name for salvation and truth. We pray in the only name given to us: Jesus! Amen! So be it! Amen!

Saturday, May 18, 2024 – In North Africa — Living in North Africa we get so used to hearing the call to prayer it becomes like background noise and sometimes I don't hear it anymore. I am challenged by the fact that some Muslims are so committed to pray that they go to the mosque 5 times a day. Would you consider, with me, setting your alarm to go off at 3:00 every day and pray for these three things: 5 families to come to know Christ, 3 people for us to read scripture with,1 new church plant.
Housing: "Update May 16, 2024: Please continue to pray for T and her son A to find a different apartment...."

For a your devotional of today. And I pray that all your readers would decide today to do as you directed. We desperately need a complete overhaul of our way of life. God grant us Christians the grace so to order our lives and aims as to bring about the recycling you speak of in your wonderfully worded homily today. We have to accept the fact that being a Christian today calls for great effort, sacrifice and diligence – all of which God will supply liberally if we but pray believingly.

Are indeed words of challenge to those who have not yet given their lives to Christ and a blessing to those who know Him as Lord and Savior. Like you say, He is there for those who seek Him and always, always present in the lives of we who have given our lives to Him and call Him Master.
