Wearing A Hat

Ephesians 6:11 – Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. (NIV)One thing with which I struggled growing up was that I started to lose my hair when I was just 16 years old. So I am thin up on top. One thing I have learned from experience through the years is that when I am out in the sun I must wear protection on my head. I have been outside in the sun for hours and it was a mistake. The scalp is not an area of the body that should ever be sunburned; it is extremely painful. So now when I am outside I wear a hat to protect my head from the sun. If I do not, I know what the consequences of those actions will be.

In Ephesians 6:11 we are told: "Put on the full armour of God." This is for our own protection. As Christians, we do have to battle against Satan. To be able to withstand his attacks we must depend on God's strength and not our own. If we do not put on the armour of God then we will be open to attacks. Only with the armour of God on, can we stand against Satan's attacks. We cannot do it alone. God has given us the tools to use.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, by ourselves, we cannot overcome the attacks of Satan. It is only through your strength, which is given through the Holy Spirit, that we can do battle. Thank you for giving us the tools needed to overcome this enemy. In Jesus' name. Amen.
