Revelation 22:12-13 – Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. (NIV)
Matthew 24:44 – So you also must be ready; because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (NIV)
On two separate occasions recently, I was asked to help a friend and a family member prepare for their driver's licence renewal for individuals aged eighty and over. Due to the inevitable changes in our bodies as we age — our vision, hearing, reaction time, medical issues, reduced flexibility, cognitive decline, and medication that adversely affects our once healthy, strong bodies — this is a requirement of the Ministry of Transportation in Ontario, Canada, for individuals over eighty. All need to prove that they are still capable and fit to hold a licence to drive on the road. So, they both studied. When the day of the Senior Driver Group Education session finally arrived, they both had to sit and wait in a room with several others until they were called to go through the training and testing process. On each occasion, I noticed the different dispositions of the two groups. Although both groups prepared for their examinations, my friend's group all sat in the waiting room looking downcast and anxious, expecting to fail. My family member's group, a few months later, came in confident and hopeful, with brave countenances and full of hope. At the end of the day, both groups exited the classrooms with a renewed sense of accomplishment and vigour.
Preparing for the day when we meet our Saviour is a must, because when we stand before Him on the day of judgement, we will want to stand confidently, knowing that we served Him obediently so that we will hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" What a joyful and wonderful day it will be for us. Why? Because we prepared well for the day of His coming.
Mark 13:35-37 – Watch therefore — for you do not know when the master of the house will come, in the evening, or at midnight, or at cockcrow, or in the morning — lest he come suddenly and find you asleep. And what I say to you I say to all: Watch. (RSV)
How are you preparing for that day? Will you be ready? Why not start preparing for His coming today?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, we want to be ready for Your return. What a wonderful day it will be for those who believe in You on the day when You return, to hear, "Well done!" Thank You for the time that You give each of us here on earth to work for the coming of Your kingdom. Help us to keep our faith in You strong and our hearts open to receive our reward on that day. In Your name, we pray. Amen!

Hi Yvonne. Very well written and an excellent reminder to all of us. It reminds me of a chorus we used to sing – “What a day that will be when my Saviour we shall see.” Sometimes I can’t wait, but in the waiting, my prayer is that all of us who know Jesus as our personal Saviour will be ready. God bless you.
Thank you, Yvonne, for your effective prayer today. Continued blessings and favour to you in Jesus’ mighty name.
