Listen while you read: "Are You Washed In The Blood"1 (Lyrics) |
Isaiah 55:10-11 – As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. (NIV)
Some time ago, a reader of the PresbyCan devotional responded this way to a devotional of mine that had appeared: "Thanks for continuing to put the world back together, one inspired thought at a time."
As I read her words, God really spoke to me concerning the truth of them. For when God inspires and prompts people to write devotionals or to read them, His Word goes forth from His heart to our hearts, and it accomplishes His purpose. It does what He desires and achieves the purpose for which He sent it. It waters our souls, our beings, which in turn puts the world back together just a little bit more, because that is what God does. The chaos which the sin within us and around us creates, He turns into order — His good and perfect order.
After all, consider how many times you have read a PresbyCan devotional and God has spoken to your heart by giving you an answer that you were searching for, or by lifting up your discouraged or depressed spirit. How many times has a devotional set things right for you that day? How many times have you been prompted to forward a devotional to someone who came to mind as you read it? Only God knows how many times that action has brought others just that much closer to Him, because that's what God's Word does. It goes about His business, putting the world back together one inspired thought at a time.
So, the next time when we feel a nudge from the Holy Spirit, let's pay attention and follow what He is saying to us, for this is God speaking to us. This is His Word through His Spirit. When we pay attention and do as He instructs, each one of us will be continuing to put the world back together again one inspired thought at a time, because that's what God does in and through those who listen and obey. It's quite awe-inspiring when you think about it, isn't it?!
Prayer: Father God, thank You for Your Word that does not return to You empty but accomplishes what You desire and achieves the purpose for which You sent it. Grant us sensitive ears and hearts to hear Your Word through Your Holy Spirit that we might act upon it and continue to put the world back together again one inspired thought at a time. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

A beautiful thought to start my week.
Thanks, Lynne. That is BEAUTIFUL! Yes, we do share as the Lord leads.
Thank you, Lynne, for sharing this encouraging devotional with us.
Blessings.
Thank you, Lynne, for again, a very inspirational devotional, such a good way to start the day. Blessings.
Thank you for your encouragement to read and memorize the Word of God. And that is also a reason to read it faithfully every day.
So true and a wonderful way to think about it, Lynne. Thank God for all the inspiration you give to us and thank you for taking the time to share it!
Loved your devotion this morning! Thank you so much for these wonderful words! Have a great day and stay well!

Hi Lynne, that certainly was an encouragement today. I struggle to find the words as I write at times and wonder what it’s all for. If I can bless one person, then it all becomes worth it. Thanks!
Thank you, Lynne. Your messages always put me back together one piece at a time. Your messages always resonate with me.
Blessings,

Dear Lynne,

Blessings to you each day.

I have been reading the Daily Devotionals for several years now and have gotten to recognize my favourite authors before I read their names. You are in that category, and I particularly liked your devotional today.
Thanks for your inspired writing and please keep up the good work.
Lynne, your exhortation reminds me of How God used Barnabas to encourage the church and Saul (Paul) and to begin the spread of the gospel. As we encourage one another, God uses our words to further His message of hope and love. Be encouraged and keep sharing the Good News with your words.
Lynne
I write devotions too and feel you have described how I feel as I put my words out for viewing. As you said, I hope it touches someone and encourages them to come to Jesus or maybe it spurs them on as the day approaches. Might be my favorite thus far. Keep writing. Our world needs your God-given words.
Good morning Lynne,
Thank you for this because it also lines up with what is on my heart and it is true. It is amazing how God uses one of us!! There is so much to do for Christ no matter where we live, but we know Christ is where we are. God bless and have a great day.
GOD IS GOOD!
Thanks again. God bless and sending prayers and hugs.
Many thanks Lynne for another of your very special devotional contributions. I really like that phrase you quoted about “putting the world back together one inspired word at a time”. Through each devotional we receive, we can be “inspired” very easily each day, not only in our own thoughts but also in thinking of someone else who might be in need of reading or hearing those words too and we can share with them. God’s words are so important to be received and obeyed each and every day in our lives. Blessings for your very mindful writings.
Good morning, Lynne,
What an awe-inspiring devotional!!! You found the perfect passage to go with your thoughts!!!
When we get those feelings to share with someone else or just a reminder to reach out to that person, it does create a wonderful feeling inside. When someone is prompted to reach out to me, it does feel wonderful.
I never thought about that God was achieving His purpose. I felt it was God driven, but I didn’t close the loop. It builds a whole other level of thought for me when you added this thought. It was like when someone shared about our prayers being saved in “gold cups”. For me, it added another level to my prayers that they were important enough to God to let them to fall into “gold cups”.
Thank you for another spurt of growth from your devotionals. Blessings and inspiration.
Hi Lynne, I can think of no better way to thank you for your continued dedication to writing your devotionals than to simply repeat “Thanks for continuing to put the world back together, one inspired thought at a time.”
A Faithful Reader
