Ephesians 6:18a – And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. (NIV)

For today, I thought I'd share a personal prayer as I have presented it to my Lord. I call it "My Wish List". It is a compilation of excerpts from three Scripture portions: Ephesians 6:10-20, Psalm 110, and Psalm 118. Feel free to make this your own prayer each day.

Dear Lord:

  • Empower me to stand firm, equipped with Your full armour, through Christ's Spirit reigning within, and with His mighty sceptre extended over me. (Ephesians 6:11; Psalm 110:2)

  • Empower me to be strong in You and Your mighty power, trusting that You are ruling in the midst of my enemies. (Ephesians 6:10; Psalm 110:2)

  • Empower me to view my struggle with people, whom I would otherwise see as the enemy, as wrestling with principalities, powers, and the spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

  • Empower me to experience personally Your help in triumphing over adversarial influences on my life through Your powerful presence within, my trustworthy shield of faith. (Psalm 118:7; Ephesians 6:16)

  • Empower me to experience Your leading me into a spacious place whenever feeling hard-pressed and silenced because of my faith, in a sense, as Your ambassador in chains. (Psalm 118:5; Ephesians 6:20)

  • Empower me to be comforted in Your spacious place of grace and freedom whenever feeling smothered by a stinging swarm of guilt and condemnation. (Psalm 118:12)

  • Empower me to taste Christ's sweet forgiveness through His priestly role, in the order of the new covenant promise. (Psalm 110:4)

  • Empower me to recognize Your preservation through Your chastening fires within. (Psalm 118:18)

  • Empower me to be free from fear, knowing that You are with me and that I am clad with Your spiritual armour. (Psalm 118:6; Ephesians 6:11,13)

  • Empower me to experience success that You grant. (Psalm 118:25)

  • Empower me to sense Your light shining on me every day, dispelling the powers of this dark world. (Psalm 118:27; Ephesians 6:12)

  • Empower me to keep on seeing new reasons to exalt You. (Psalm 118:28)

  • Empower me always to have a song within, that I may rejoice today and be glad. (Psalm 118:24)

  • Empower me to live to proclaim what You have done through Your gift of salvation through Christ. (Psalm 118:13; Ephesians 6:19)

Prayer: You are my God, and I will praise You. Your love endures forever! (Psalm 118:28-29) Amen.

    Dear Diane:
Beautifully said. I love this prayer.

Thank you for sharing your prayer wish list, Diane. May God continue to bless you!

    Thanks for the powerful devotional.
Seeking God’s guidance through Scripture never goes wrong.

Repetition of “me” can be dangerous. We need to look behind “me” and love others into the Kingdom of God.

Thank you, Diane. I’m going to save this beautiful and powerful prayer.

Empower me to see beyond this material, physical world to see what You see in the spirit realm, that which is eternal. My favourite song: Be unto Your name by Robin Mark. Blessings my friend.
