Never Chicken Out

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "And Can It Be That I Should Gain"1 (Lyrics)

Hebrews 10:38 – But the just shall live by faith [My righteous servant shall live by his conviction respecting man's relationship to God and divine things, and holy fervor born of faith and conjoined with it]; and if he draws back and shrinks in fear, My soul has no delight or pleasure in him. (AMPC)

When I first started writing devotionals, neither did I know anything about writing one, nor was I a huge fan of daily devotionals. But along the line, I heard in my spirit, "Roll out devotionals," and I was sure that was God giving me an instruction, so I obeyed.

Just a few weeks back, I got a wonderful feedback message from a certain family called the Fletchers. This family glorified God for using one of my devotionals to reach them. They wrote, "Thank you! This message is exactly what we needed to hear this morning. We are going through difficult times, and now we are reminded of God's promise for us through this verse in your devotional."

Then, I breathed a prayer, Thank You, Father, for reaching out to the Fletchers. But what if I had shrunk back in fear by not writing devotionals? What if I had kept back this message somewhere and acted in disobedience? Would the Fletchers and others be blessed by now?

Most times, we could make God lose delight in us when we chicken out in disobedience and when we compromise His demands on our faith, because of our fears, pride, or ego.

Hebrews 11:6a – But without faith it is impossible to please him. (KJV)

We hear God say to us, Preach in a public bus today, and we don't. We receive invitations from the youth body or our pastor in church to share a message with the congregation on certain days, and we chicken out and say no, we can't. We hear God saying, Share My Word with your backsliding friends and family, and we don't, and so on. Yet we keep on asking Him for things, and we say that He is our Father.

Luke 6:46 – And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? (KJV)

Friend, when God is saying to do something, do it. So long as the instruction is in line with His Word, waste no time, act in faith, and do it.

People's lives are dependent on what God wants to say through us, for the Word of God is life to those who find it. Many lives are almost lost and gone, at the brink of destruction. They need to be revived through our voices filled with God's Word. Let's act in faith and resuscitate them!

From today, act in faith. Never chicken out or shrink back from doing God's bidding. Be a life-saver and let God delight in you. Pray with me:

Prayer: O God, have mercy on me for the times when I refused to obey Your instructions because of fear, ego, and the devil. Please give me the grace to obey Your voice henceforth, that Your soul will find pleasure in me. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Thanks for sharing your message with me.
    Inspiring to me.

Thanks, friend! On my long walks during the COVID crisis, I have had many ideas, but not followed through by getting them down on paper. Now I’ll see if they were a nudge from God.
    Please pray for me!
