Just Thinking About Jesus

Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are … lovely … and if there be any praise, think on these things. (KJV)

To me, Jesus is the loveliest being. When I was very young, I thought that He lived in the sky, so even when I lay on my back on the grass, watching the clouds go by, I thought about how much He loved me. In any circumstance, He can bring a peaceful, lovely, and quiet joy to each one's life. The Father is willing, if we ask, to let our souls be filled with delight as we learn that Jesus is part of the creation story, so when we look at anything, we see His loveliness.

A sunrise dawns each morning with brilliance to remind us of God's accomplishment. We stand in His presence. His love is beautiful beyond words and can permeate our entire being if we let Him. Recently, my grandson brought home five box turtles for his daughter. She brought each turtle to me and asked me to talk to it. When I told the first turtle, "Jesus loves you, doesn't He?" Granddaughter sweetly and emphatically said, "Yes. Him do!" Then she asked me, "Touch his legs and fingers." As I did, she said, "Jesus made him." During these fleeting moments, she acknowledged Jesus.

By sunset each evening, our lives are fatigued with all of its responsibilities and commitments, but Jesus, although not insistent, loves us and desires good communication and commitment to Him, too. We don't have to plan a special time with Him. If we understand that He is ever-present, then we may weave our thoughts and speech, constantly giving praise to His loveliness in every aspect of our day.

Prayer: Dear Father God, may we not let the sunset arrive without thinking about our connectedness to You, through Jesus Christ. He is available at all times. He is the best! Amen.
