John 7:38 – He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. (NKJV)
Ten Mile Creek ran below our humble shack at the lumber mill camp when I was a child. Until water was piped into the house, the creek served our every human need for water. In the beginning, we hauled drinking water and wash water, and even took a bar of soap when we went swimming. In the summer, the creek dried to a trickle, except for some deeper pools. Physical water is important to everyone.
Spiritual water, or "living water", is to believers what physical water is to physical thirst. It satisfies our spiritual thirst as we mature in Christ. Our own power can't do God's job. The power of Christ can — and we receive His power through the Holy Spirit. His rivers of living water flow through us and empower us to do God's work through Jesus Christ. Thank goodness, these rivers never run dry!
What a delight and privilege to know that believers have the Holy Spirit to guide them! Through Christ, He teaches us the ways of God. He empowers us to praise God. He teaches us through God's Word. We learn how to change our attitudes and behaviour so that we can become more Christlike. Let us always listen to the Holy Spirit. With that wisdom, we can serve Him according to His plan and purpose.
Of course, we have need for physical water, but the living water nourishes our spiritual thirst with the knowledge, power, and motivation to live the Christian life. We can access the Holy Spirit every day.
Prayer: Dear Father, how amazing it is that "living water" does not evaporate and dry up in the summer — like the water does in Ten Mile Creek behind the mill. We can drink of You, the spiritual water, during every season of life. Thank You that we can be filled to overflowing, to minister to those around us. All that we need to do is to come to the river. Amen.

I live in the Niagara Region of Ontario Canada and we also have a 10 Mile Creek running to Lake Ontario.
There must be a lot of creeks around North America with the same names.
