God Answers Prayers

Listen while you read: "The Head That Once Was Crowned"1 (Lyrics)

Psalm 103:1-4,17 – Praise the Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. From everlasting to everlasting the Lord's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children. (NIV)

God in His mercy and love has answered many of my prayers. Some situations required an urgent answer; others not so much.

When my children were very small, I was at death's door. I was quickly slipping away. I cried to the Lord in desperation to let me live long enough to raise my babies. God is so good! My babies grew up, and now I have three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Thank You, Lord!

Another example of a cry to God consisted of three words: "Lord, help me!" My little boy choked on an apple piece. Nothing that I tried was dislodging it. He went limp and blue in my arms. That's when I cried out to the Lord for help. Immediately, he coughed up the apple and began to cry. Thank You, Lord!

The third example was not critical but important to me. Three little ones had no one to look after them on Christmas Day. When they arrived, they had lice. Panic city! I prayed to the Lord to prevent an invasion. Baths in warm, soapy water and washed-and-dryer-dried clothes saved the day — wonderful days for all of us. Thank You, Lord!

Through the decades, I have learned that God answers all kinds of prayers. Sometimes, His answer is "Yes", but at other times, it is "No" or "Wait", according to His wisdom and foreknowledge. In every case, His Word reminds us to "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7 NIV)

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for Your love, mercies, and healing. Thank You for hearing our heart's cry in all circumstances. Nothing is too small or too big for You. We pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Natalie, Thank you for your encouraging devotional. Yes, I had to learn that God does answer prayer even when it is “no” or “wait” because of course we are hoping for “yes”. Blessings.

Thank you for your devotion. I am with you 100 percent, God does answer prayer. He has answered every prayer of mine that was important for all of my 85 years. I have no idea why a sinner like me has had all his prayers answered? So pleased to hear he been so good to you also. God Bless You and All Your Family.

God is good all the time. All the time God is good.
Thank you for sharing how God has answered prayers in your life. I can also testify to many answered prayers in my own life. And when I look back I realize why when the answer was no or wait. Blessings.

    Thanks Natalie,
I too have known the joy of answered prayer… and also the frustration when God says ‘not yet’… many, many years after I met the man to be my husband. It has strengthened my faith and we’ve coped with a lot over the years. Thanks be to God!

Thank you, Natalie for your message today. It came at a very appropriate time.
My brother is very ill and on a recent journey to the hospital, during a terrific snow storm, we were sideswiped by a passing semi. Only by the power of the Lord did we manage to control the car that sustained considerable damage. We were safe, and kept repeating, “Thank you, Lord Jesus!”
I pray continuously for my brother’s healing, and know my God is listening and caring for him. No matter what the outcome, our God is good and cares for His own.

    Dear Natalie,
Thank you for your message of prayers asked and answer.
They are so like many a mother’s prayer and there are many of us, I am certain, who will identify with your prayer actions. Thank you.
    Blessings.

Thank you for a beautiful and powerful message

    Hello dear Natalie,
Hope all is well with you across the miles. I got the chance to read the powerful article by you the other day about God answering your heartfelt prayers, especially the one when you fervently prayed that He prolongs your life and gives you a second chance to survive to raise your children. The more we celebrate in life, the more there is in life to celebrate.
Here is an impressive Arabic quote translated into English: “The longest pencil is smart and looks very nice. But, in fact, it didn’t write anything – even a single word – and didn’t leave any trail. Some people are just like that, well-dressed but their lives are empty and meaningless. Looks can be deceiving.”
Wishing you the best in your writing.
