Go For A Tea

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Be Present At Our Table Lord"1 (Lyrics)

Psalm 37:4 – Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. (RSV)

Psalm 20:4 – May he grant you your heart's desire, and fulfil all your plans! (RSV)

It always amazes me how, out of nowhere, God softly tells us to do something, and then, I am amazed at the results that He sends. For example, I have always wanted to have painting classes here in Pico.

The other day, I debated whether to go for a tea before walking down to the pharmacy, or to have one afterwards. It was like a little voice saying, "After all that walking, a tea would be better then," while another little voice was saying, "Go now." The first voice seemed to imply that it wasn't important, but the other voice was inviting and insistent. I discerned that the second voice was God's, and I went for the tea immediately.

As I was enjoying the tea, a couple of ladies wandered in, and they were speaking English. When they got to the counter, I said something about how nice it was to hear English. The older lady and I chatted while her daughter did the ordering. She asked if they could join me, and I gladly said yes. The daughter brought the coffee and tea, and we started to reveal things about each other.

The mom said, "We were next door doing papers, and when we left, I really had an urge for a coffee. I never drink coffee." They were preparing legal papers to sell their home, and the daughter was going to move into their other house come January.

The young lady is an art teacher, and she is going to be living in Pico not very far from me. I could take lessons! I smiled and said, "Well, I guess I know why I was to go for a tea and you had an urge for a coffee. It's all God's doing!" She agreed.

I am so thankful that God told me to go for a tea when He did. If I had listened to the other voice, I would not have met these wonderful ladies. By being obedient, I got to experience something amazing. God arranged to give me the desire of my heart.

This is why I feel that it is so important always to be aware of the fact that God talks to us anywhere about anything. God remembered my desire and He arranged for it to be fulfilled. Do you have your ears on alert?

Prayer: Father God, we are so blessed to have a Father who knows what we need and the ability to give it to us. Thank You for always being with us. Help us to be aware of You and not to be so consumed with what we are doing that we miss out on an important message from You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

It is exciting to hear how God inspired you to stop for tea when you did, and even more exciting to see the paintings He is going to inspire you to share with others. Very good thank you! Amen.
