Cars lined blocks of curbsides as several hundred of us teachers converged at an inner-city school to sit as pupils and hear experts of our profession.
I watched closely for a parking spot for my sky-blue Malibu as I drove slowly along a narrow street — the kind of street that had been there before the city planners — having house fronts on one side facing detached garages in backyards on the other side. Then I noticed a little white-haired lady looking out back from between her frilled kitchen curtains.
At the same time, I saw a parking space by her garage and thought, I'l1 knock and ask if I can park right here for the day.
She slid up her window and said, "I'll open the garage and you can drive right in."
So much more than I could have dreamed of asking for!
God goes amazingly far beyond our requests. The apostle Paul wrote that He "is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us" (Ephesians 3:20 NIV).
Prayer: Because You will open the windows of heaven and pour out a blessing upon us, let us be bold to ask. Amen.

You brought back memories of the house we lived in in Toronto — back likely at the time the little white haired lady was a child! (Our home being like you described in your Devotional!) And I did get the message of how God provides for us just at the right time.
I read the lesson that went with the Devotional this morning as I faced another day concerned about my not-very-well loving & lovable wife in a Nursing Home. Then you ‘topped’ off the lesson content with that Thought for the Day. First I smiled, then I laughed and my day turned around, if you know what I mean.

Great story, Isabel! Reminds me of the old joke about a lady who was late for an appointment and as she got closer to her destination she prayed “Please, God, please let there be a parking space …. oh, never mind, God, here’s one!”
