2 Peter 3:18 – But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. (NIV)
Ephesians 1:7-8 – In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. (NIV)
I've been reading a lot about grace lately, and the more I read, the more I realize how amazing God's grace really is.
- G – God's
R – Riches
A – At
C – Christ's
E – Expense
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that will cleanse and pardon within;
Grace, grace, God's grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin.
– Julia Johnston
God's grace is enough.
God's grace truly is amazing! We don't deserve it, and we can't earn it.
Romans 3:23-24 – For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. (NIV)
We have all sinned and deserve to be punished, but Jesus Christ took our punishment upon Himself when He died on the cross for our sins. We can't be good enough on our own.
We are justified by grace!
I have a small business-size card posted in our home office with a quote from Philip Yancey that says:
- Grace means that there is nothing I can do to make God love me more and there is nothing I can do to make God love me less. That is amazing, isn't it!
Ephesians 2:8 – For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God. (NIV)
We are saved by grace!
2 Corinthians 12:9 – But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. (NIV)
We are made strong by grace!
- Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now am found;
Was blind but now I see.
– John Newton
Amazing grace!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Your grace is so amazing! You know everything about us, but still, You love us. Just as we are, we come to You, seeking Your grace. We know that we are sinners and we need forgiveness. Forgive us when we try to earn Your grace. May we be willing to accept Your free gift in our lives. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
