Wonderful Peace

Listen to this devotional:
Listen while you read: "Blest Are The Pure In Heart"1 (Lyrics)

John 14:27 – I give you peace, the kind of peace that only I can give. It isn't like the peace that this world can give. So don't be worried or afraid. (CEV)

Like many in later years, I was having a tossing-and-turning, sleepless night. This is not unusual for me, as I have been under spiritual attack for many years. I must cope with audible voices 24/7, and nighttime is the most difficult. Often, I only get to sleep when it is time that most people are arising.

Often after such a night, it is difficult to finally awaken once I do get to sleep. Early this morning, still asleep in a dream after an all-night attack, I started to hear the beautiful old hymn, Wonderful words of life by Philip Bliss, being sung by multiple voices. Then as I was becoming fully awake, I was hearing these words from Wonderful peace, by Warren Cornell, being sung:

    Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray,
    In fathomless billows of love.

This got me moving and out of bed to come alive and begin my day. I felt so good — it was like a choir of angels was serenading me. I went to my piano, got out my hymn book, sat down, and played this beautiful old hymn. The words are still going through my head several hours later. This has made my day so peaceful.

2 Thessalonians 3:16 – I pray that the Lord, who gives peace, will always bless you with peace. May the Lord be with all of you. (CEV)

Although few of my readers may toss and turn all night struggling with voices, many people have other struggles that keep them awake at night: financial uncertainties, health concerns, relationship issues, parenting problems, addiction pressures, and marital worries. In all of these, however, we can trust Jesus' promises, and that trust brings calmness and peace.

Isaiah 26:3 – You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. (NKJV)

Philippians 4:7 – And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, thank You for the peace which You send to us by ministering angels or by Your promises. We ask that You would send this wonderful peace to each of us and to others who are going through similar circumstances. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

June I love how God meets our ever need — every time and every way … with his peace!

    Thanks so much, June.
May the LORD give you a bountiful supply of His peace each night.

Thank you June. I’m sorry to read that you are still struggling with the voices. May Peace be with you always… especially through the night.

Thank you June – I certainly share in your tossing and turning during the night. May you find peace from God. Blessings.

Good morning June. Thanks for sharing your night time experiences with us.
The scriptures you chose are very appropriate an will be a blessing to many I’m sure as we/they toss and turn.

    Hi June
I don’t know just what to say other than it has been a long time! And I don’t really wish you the day when you will receive Perfect Peace — but it will come!! In the mean time keep playing that piano. God bless.

    Dear June;
Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us, the readers. I often wake up to a hymn and it is indeed a wonderful way to start the day. May God give you his peace and continue to bless you with angel choirs.

What a lovely message, June. Thank you.
Oh – and thank you for sharing. I’m also in latter years and rarely sleep through the night. Fortunately I do not have the tiresome voices thing going on.
    Blessings to you.

June, May our loving Lord Jesus Christ heal you from the “voices”. My brother heard voices in his head and smelled scents that were not there. The doctor prescribed medicine that helped, but had side effects he hated more than the symptoms. Turned out, he had a brain disease that medication could have helped, but he wouldn’t take it regularly so his disease killed him. Praying that you will be well. Blessings.

    Oh June!
Your Wonderful Peace devotional is truly ‘Wonderful!!!’
How wonderful also that you play piano and know so many wonderful hymns. I Love music and especially the old-time priceless hymns!
The song below is not an old-time hymn but yesterday morning when my eyes opened the first thing I heard in my spirit was the song ‘Above All’ by Jushly Tong.
Your devotionals, June, are very beautiful!
