Just when you think your life is made up of sheer survival, and it's boring and mundane, you find yourself designing and sewing a Perry the Platypus costume for a seven-year-old!
I hadn't even heard of Perry. I certainly didn't know what Perry looked like. "Never mind," said her parents. "You can google him."
Yes, I did make the costume, and if I do say so myself, it looked pretty terrific, and my granddaughter loved it, so I guess it was great! Wow! What a credit to have on my resume!
Doesn't God have the best ideas for shaking us out of our sad selves, our staid comfort zones? You've got to love His sense of humour!
Think of it: An Australian egg-laying water mammal with a snout shaped like a duck's bill and sporting webbed feet is now a popular television character. Imagine what God can do with us!
Psalm 30:5b – The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter. (MSG)
Prayer: Lord, thank You for laughter, the icing on the cake of life. In Christ's name, we pray. Amen.

Cute. Thank you.
Really loved this one!
Thanks for the good word Brenda.
A great story Brenda. And, a great message. Laughter and joy are so important. Thanks for spreading cheer today.
Hi Brenda,
Your devotions are never boring! Love them. Keep them coming and God bless.
Thank you so much for this devotional! I forwarded it to my fellow Session members. What will God have in plan for us???
Thank you once again Brenda, your devotionals are so concise and awesome.
You just hit the right trigger every time.
Thanks Brenda,
A touch of humor to brighten my day.
Abundant blessings.
Good Morning Brenda.
Never heard of Perry either, but googled him and congratulate you on designing a costume for the little 7 yr old girl. Nothing like a little kid to get us out of our doldrums!
Hi Brenda, thank you for your devotional. It cheered me up and made me grateful for my grandson who always makes me smile! What would we do without kids in our lives? I agree that God does have a sense of humor and we need to focus on keeping happy and putting a smile on our face! Blessings.
How perfect a devotional, Brenda. Here in Texas we have been without sun for about a week. We are “Sun” people, and everyone is walking about without smiles on their faces. Today the sun is shining. I expect a different attitude from each of them!

Hi Brenda,
Enjoyed your devotion. It reminded me of the time I visited family in Australia.
One day we went to see some of the Australian wild life at a wildness area. There was a small brook with some Platypuses swimming around in it. I always thought that they were rather big from some of the pictures I saw of them. They are quite small less than a foot long so just as you were surprised so was I. God surprises us every day. His greatest surprise was taking human form as a tiny helpless baby. A baby born in a stable that depended upon humans to take care of him just as he does for us everyday.
Blessings.
Hi Brenda:
You are such a good grammie. I am sure after became organized and introduced to Perry it was a great pleasure for you to make your grand-daughter so happy with her costume.
As you said, God truly does have a way of granting us peace of mind and making us realize life is not so boring after all. A great message.

Dear Brenda,
I’m not acquainted with the fictional “Perry.”
“An Australian egg-laying water mammal with a snout shaped like a duck’s bill and sporting webbed feet is now a popular television character. Imagine what God can do with us!”
What God can do with us is for real too. Seriously. And with humor — one of God’s gifts.
Hi Brenda! I read your devotional and was so delighted in the humour of the situation: having a platypus on your resume! I did chuckle. And I feel much more cheerful after leaving my car at the garage to be diagnosed with some hard-to-find malady. And a BIG bill, I am sure! Not like that of a platypus!
Thank you for your devotional and laughter this morning.
