When I am out walking with the pack, I find it both interesting and comforting to see how the dogs naturally split up. Some always walk ahead of me, some always walk behind me, and some always walk beside me. Behind, beside, ahead, they provide a hedge of protection around me at all times.
Likewise the Scriptures tell us:
Psalm 139:5 – You hem me in — behind and before; you have laid your hand upon me. (NIV)
Matthew 28:20b – And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. (NIV)
John 14:1-2 – Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. (NIV)
The truth, whether we feel it or not, is that God is always behind us, beside us, in front of us providing a hedge of protection around each one of us so that we need not fear our past, our present, our future, any time, any place, for any reason. Now, isn't that something absolutely amazing and comforting to think on!
Prayer: Lord God, we praise You for Your constant hedge of protection which surrounds us always and everywhere. May we remind ourselves of this precious truth daily, that we might be strengthened, encouraged, and comforted concerning our lives and the paths upon which You have led, are leading, and will lead us. In Christ's name, we ask. Amen.

Thank you Lynne for this morning’s devotional.
To be HEDGED in by GOD is another benefit to be thankful for.
God’s blessings to your day!
Hi Lynne! The phrase “hedge of protection” is something I routinely ask for in my prayers. The idea comes from Job 1:10 but today I learned the same imagery is found in Psalm 139. Thank you for sharing your insights. Your writing is always an encouragement to me.
Blessings.
Another good reminder Lynne.
Gotta love those dogs Lynne,
They can teach us a lot about God’s ways.
Blessings.
Dear Lynne,
Thank you for your reminder that God is always ahead, behind, and with us.
And He will never forsake us (Deut. 4:31 & 31:6, 1 Chronicles 28:20). As I recall, I believe this is one of the first truths I learned about God when a child.
Isaiah 55: 7: “Let the wicked forsake his (own) way,” but not the Lord’s Way.
Therefore “we should not forsake the assembling of ourselves” (Heb.10:25) to praise him.
