Hubby used to say that I was the queen of tape because I seal every parcel as tightly as possible. The other day, after the clerk weighed my items, I found a couple of areas uncovered. I bought tape and added more to the item. Finally, I handed it back to the clerk. She looked at the parcel, then at me, and again at the parcel, and said, "I should have waited to weigh this until after you taped it." Suffice it to say, no parcel from me to you will ever be ripped open on a corner unless it meets a bulldog.
Dozens of people determined to seal Christ's tomb to prevent His rising from the dead. It didn't work.
Matthew 28:2-6a – There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." (NIV)
The resurrection of Jesus is a well-documented historical event. The fact is that Christ rose from the dead on the third day, proving that everything that He claimed about Himself is true. He is the Son of God with God's own holy nature. He can and does save us from our sins, and He promises eternal life to all who have a personal relationship with Him. There is hope for us, because death and evil and all the problems of this world that we face every day do not have the final word. God does!
Prayer: Lord, thank You that all we have to do is cry out, "Lord, save me!" and You will stretch out Your hand, catch us, and ask us, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?" In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
