It is truly amazing how inspiration comes along in order to create a story or, in my case, a devotional.
My friend, Ann, called me the other day to share with me the behaviour of a confused bumblebee. She told me that she was watching a bumblebee trying to get into the house through a closed window. The bumblebee kept crashing into the window pane, over and over again, as it was attracted to the beautiful bright flowers inside. Little did the insect realize that these flowers were fake, ignoring the real flowers that were in abundance outside.
As my friend shared this funny story, I thought about our Christian walk and how we can be swayed so easily by enticing commercials on the television to purchase unnecessary items or to upgrade to the latest version of a smartphone, tablet, e-reader, or other technical gadget.
As a Christian, we have to be wise and discerning. You may ask, "How does one become wise and discerning?"
James 1:5 – If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. (NLT)
Matthew 7:24-29 – "Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won't collapse because it is build on bedrock. But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn't obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash." When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, for he taught with real authority — quite unlike their teachers of religious law. (NLT)
If we study God's Word, the Bible, and learn our heavenly Father's character and His truths revealed to us by the Holy Spirit, He will teach us and lead us in the way that we should go.
Prayer: Almighty God, help us to keep our eyes on Your Son, Jesus. Send forth Your Holy Spirit to each and every one of us, so that Your truth will be revealed in times of confusion and temptation. We pray for discernment and strength. Amen.

A hearty Amen.
Good Afternoon Rosemary:
A wise and interesting devotional. It is amazing how one can be side tracted from following the Master if one is not building one’s home on the solid rock. Over and over again we are challenged, from the word of God to wear the armour He provides, keeping safe and secure from the temptations provided by the evil one who is Alive and Well on Planet Earth.
Have a pleasant day and once again thank you for a fine message.
Dear Rosy,
I really enjoyed your devotional as I have been reading about the behavior of honeybees. It’s quite interesting how they work so hard to make honey which is a great health benefit to us humans. It’s funny how the one in your story got fooled by the fake flowers – that was a great spiritual lesson for us today.
Blessings.
A good one, Rosy.
