I love my computer. I pound those keys on the keyboard in order to create sentences, paragraphs, and finally, a story, whether it is a made-up story for my grandchildren or a devotional from my life experiences.

I love the Internet. I search for information and facts to help me create a story. I enjoy getting e-mails from readers from all over the world, letting me know how my writing has touched their lives and also encouraging me in continuing to do so. I enjoy listening to music on the Internet as well, especially when someone sends a slide presentation of beautiful scenery which has music in the background.

The motherboard is the brains of the computer. It processes and stores the information of all that I have typed, as well as all my stories, letters, and pictures.

The other day, someone sent me a slide show with music. As I turned on my speakers, there was absolute silence. I unplugged the cord and then plugged it in again — no sound. I tried again and again — nothing. I finally gave up. I disconnected the speakers, placed them into a bag and headed off to the nearest computer store. The end result was that the connection was not working anymore and that I needed new speakers. After some time, I purchased a new set of speakers as well as a new keyboard — all on sale! I was a happy camper again.

This incident made me think of our bodies. The motherboard — our brain, our ability to think and communicate instructions to the rest of our body. The speakers — our mouths, our ability to communicate to each other and the rest of the world. The keyboard — our hands, our ability to serve others in many different ways. Our bodies, too, wear down, and we look forward to a place where there is no more pain or sorrow and where every tear will be wiped away, a place where we will have brand new bodies.

Prayer: Dear Jesus, sometimes our bodies hurt, and we wonder if things will ever get better. Help us to trust in Your Word, that someday we will see You face to face, where You will wipe away every tear that we have shed and take away every pain that we have endured, and when we will receive a new body — incorruptible and pure. Amen.
