I have recently watched a few television shows about dying or death and what happens afterwards, ranging from the secular Dr. Oz to the spiritual 700 Club. We are all interested in it, even though we say that we don't want to think about it, talk about it, or read about it, but it happens to all of us. As author Elizabeth Lowell says, "Life's only guarantee is that no one gets out alive!"

John 14:2 – In my Father's house there are many dwelling places (homes). If it were not so, I would have told you; for I am going away to prepare a place for you. (AMP)

Well, I'm all for believing this Scripture that Jesus has gone to prepare a special place, just for me, and that's where I'm going, my new home. Where will your home be? When we trust Jesus, He will bring us all home.

1 John 5:10a,11,13 – Anyone who believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his heart: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. (NIV)

Our minister, Rev. Dr. Jack Neil, who has since retired, has said that for those who trust Jesus, "Death is not bad; it's the dying process, the disease, pain, etc., that can be bad." Working in health care, I can attest to that too.

So, when I see all the new television shows about death, dying, violence, ghosts, vampires … I know what I believe: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." (Psalm 23:6 KJV)

Prayer: Praise to You, Lord Jesus Christ! Assure us throughout this life that You will meet us in the next and bring us home. Amen.
