Heaven's Leftovers

Listen to this devotional:

Malachi 3:10b – I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! (NLT)

I have a clear picture of a host of Christians who have gone before us sitting around the banquet table with Jesus in heaven. The fellowship and meal are a greater experience than our limited words can express. The bounty is more than they need and their cups overflow. The cascading blessings, which surge down from heaven to us and shower us with daily surprises, become our most precious and awesome gifts from the Lord. These are more glorious gifts than we can contain. We are overwhelmed with God's goodness, and this is just heaven's leftovers!

So many people in the western world feel entitled to everything, and they often complain about their problems and are glum about the "little" they have. But it vastly outweighs the little that many people in the developing world have in their poverty, and yet they are consistently reported to be filled with joy.

People need to hear about God's love for us and the great bounty of His blessings. Are you receiving sweet leftovers from heaven? Have you shared these blessings with someone today?

Psalm 23:5 – You prepare a feast for me. … My cup overflows with blessings. (NLT)

Ezekiel 34:26 – I will cause my people and their homes around my holy hill to be a blessing. And I will send showers, showers of blessings, which will come just when they are needed. (NLT)

Prayer: Holy Father in heaven, we are thankful beyond words for the blessings that You delight in showering down on us, Your children. Thank You. In the name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
