Matthew 5:8 – Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. (NIV)
Revelation 1:7a – Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him. (RSV)
A few years ago, a friend of mine gave me a wooden plaque. The puzzle is that if people look at it just the right way, they can see the word "JESUS". Sometimes when I look at the puzzle, I can see "JESUS". Sometimes I have to really focus in order to see "JESUS". Other times I get very frustrated because I can't see "JESUS".
In our everyday lives, don't we have the same problem? Some days, we are living the way God intends us to live, and we can see Jesus. Some days we have to make a conscious effort to see Jesus and live the way He would have us live. Other days we are distracted from God's will and we can't see Jesus, and our lives can be very frustrating.
So how can we stay focused on Jesus?
The Bible tells us in today's verse from Revelation that one day, "every eye will see Him." Until that day we can stay focused by:
- reading the Bible to learn more about Him
- praying
- having fellowship with other Christians
- going to worship
- studying the Bible
- reading Christian books
- listening to Christian music
As we do these things, we will be able to live in a close relationship with God through His Son, Jesus, and become the people God wants us to be.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, open our eyes so that we can see Jesus. Help us to stay focused on Him as we live our busy lives, until the day when every eye will see Him and every knee shall bow down before Him. In His name, we pray. Amen.
