Waking Up With Jesus

Lamentations 3:22-23 – The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness. (RSV)

In the hush before dawn, birds begin singing as the dew rises from the ground. Subtle rays of light peek through the varied greens of the trees, revealing bright colours springing forth in every direction on flowers and plants as they greet the day and raise their heads to the sky. Jesus gently speaks. It is a sweet time of fellowship with our Lord. He gives us instructions and inspiration, which bless us in preparation for our day.

In this quiet time, we know that we are important to God; we are treasured and loved. Occasionally when we feel alone and fearful, we remember each morning that Jesus whispers our name, and we are comforted and strengthened.

We know that the outside world is filled with horrors and pain, as well as turmoil and destruction. Nevertheless, here for a moment as a new day awakens, we see only the beauty and peace that God provides for us. He is equipping us for spiritual warfare, and we are confident that we can march forward, ready for the adventure of being "on mission" with God.

Ephesians 1:3,8 – How we praise God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we belong to Christ. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. (NLT)

Prayer: Thank You, heavenly Father, for inviting us to begin our day with You, knowing that You equip us to live victoriously as we follow You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
