It happened again! I couldn't believe that I could be enticed again. But there it was — staring me in the face — and tempting me to play the latest edition of a new "Hidden Object" game on the Internet.
It is truly amazing how these graphic artists can create a surreal world and life, urging players to enter that world of fantasy and help solve a mystery. Usually such a game is offered for free. Players can play for one hour, and when the hour has expired, they are given the option to purchase the game or to leave it and wonder whatever happened at the end. And, mind you, I've become entangled in that web of mystery myself. Again, I got sidetracked from writing, and writing eventually was put on the back burner.
We are so weak. How quickly our flesh submits to these computer games, word games, and fantasy games on the Internet. How can we overcome these time-wasting temptations?
1 Corinthians 10:13 – No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it. (NASB)
It is wonderful to know that even though we are tempted over and over again by such things as time-wasting activities, alcohol, cigarettes, pornography, and others, God will never leave us or forsake us, and He rescues us again and again. He can enable us to recognize such traps and resist their allure.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, we thank You that You are with us through our struggles and temptations. You never leave us broken or alone. We ask for Your discernment and for strength to overcome the temptations that we face in our lives each day. Amen.
