There are times in my life when I cannot remember what I went to get from downstairs, or where I put something, or even what I wanted to tell someone. I just plain forget. I don't choose to do so — it just happens. I am human.
There are other times when I can't forget something — things like hurts that cut deeply, caused by others. Yes, I can choose to forgive, but that doesn't mean that I forget it. I have found, though, that after I forgive the person, the memory does fade somewhat. At times, the memory is completely gone.
Jeremiah 31:34 – I will forgive their sins and I will no longer remember their wrongs. I, the Lord, have spoken. (GNB)
In this verse, I see that God chooses to remember our wrongs no more. He can't forget. He is God, but He can choose not to remember.
How great is our God! He has chosen to pay for our sin. He has chosen to forgive us. And He chooses not to remember our sin.
Let's praise Him!
Prayer: How great are You, Lord! Amen.
