Proverbs 3:5-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. (NKJV)
My husband and I decided to put our four-bedroom home on the market. We got ready to downsize by getting rid of a lot of furniture and things we did not need. We managed to empty three bedrooms and most of the furniture in the family room.
After three different times listing the house, we had not sold it. The realtors were perplexed at why it did not sell, even though we were told the house showed extremely well. One reason was a five-foot crawl space; people wanted a full basement. We even had prayer requests for its sale listed on the church prayer chain. We decided to take the house off the market.
A short while later, a family member and her children had an emergency and needed refuge. Well, those three bedrooms are now filled; the family room housed their living room furniture; and that five-foot crawl space saved her a monthly storage fee for the rest of her stuff.
We thought that we had a good plan for ourselves, but found that God had a different and better plan for us. He was not preparing us to move, but preparing us to serve Him by having someone move in with us.
Isaiah 55:8 – "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. (NKJV)
Prayer: Dear heavenly Father God, help us to listen carefully and not always think that our way is the best way. By listening and being obedient to You, we can have opportunities to serve others through You. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
