Children By Adoption

Listen to this devotional:

Ephesians 1:5 – He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will. (NIV)

At my son and daughter-in-law's home, my husband and I and her parents waited excitedly and patiently for the arrival of our new granddaughter. My son and his wife had waited four years to adopt a child. Now the blessed day had arrived! She is thirteen months old and cute as can be. She has been showered with lots of love and presents from all the family members on both sides. My son and daughter-in-law received a certificate with the baby's name and their last name on it. My son said, "Mom, we now know she is really ours."

Our new granddaughter received a new last name, and is now entitled to an inheritance, through her adoption into the family. In the same way, our heavenly Father God chooses us, and if we believe in His Son Jesus, God gives us the right to become His children. Through His adoption of us, we now are given all the rights to inherit eternal life with our heavenly Father through His Son Jesus.

Psalm 33:12 – Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. (NIV)

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father God, who chose us to be Your adopted children through the shedding of Your Son Jesus' blood on the cross so that we can inherit Your salvation, help us to be faithful to You. Help us by Your grace to be obedient and holy in all we do. We love You. We pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
