Listen to this devotional:

Philippians 4:4,6 – Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. (NIV)

Some years ago, one of my children sent me a cassette tape with a sermon he was sure I would appreciate. The sermon was good and appropriate for the time it was sent, but my favourite part was a song. The soloist was a young boy, singing the Israeli song, "Rejoice". I love Israeli music at any time, but this was special, because the singer forgot the words part way through. The music carried on, and he was able to recover the next verse.

I hope his mother wasn't too cross with him. It was just so typical of a nervous young lad. I thought it was precious, and I listened to it far more often than the sermon. We parents expect perfection from our children, unlike our Saviour who takes us as we are and loves us with our faults.

Prayer: Dear heavenly Father, we are so glad that You don't expect more of us than we are able to give, but give us more so that we can excel. Help us to be patient with each other and to trust You for strength to fulfill our given tasks. Amen.
