Listen while you read: "Jesus Calls Us"1 (Lyrics)

Luke 8:17 – For nothing is secret that will not be revealed, nor anything hidden that will not be known and come to light. (NKJV)

During the winter it is not uncommon to find us sitting in our living room, anxiously waiting for the sun to move around the house and into our front window.

On my way to the living room, I passed by the music/reading room. There in the middle of a chair was one of our cats, basking in the full rays of the sun. Earlier in the week, I had moved the chair to a new position in that room. At the time, I didn't realize that the move would position it into the sun. The cat sure did — and was taking full advantage of the sun on this day.

Then, I went into the living room and noticed our orange cat lying on the living room floor in a very tiny amount of sun. In the next two hours I noticed this cat chase the small rays around the living room floor. He kept having to move to remain in the rays of the sun.

This got me thinking how in this world we set our sights on the small things and then chase them around, not getting a lot of satisfaction. Yet not that far away from us is the One who can give us all we need. I am sure we all know people and family and friends who are in need of this light in their lives.

Hebrews 4:13 – And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (NKJV)

Prayer: Dear Lord, thank You for the animals of this world in which we can see Your hand of creation. Help us to keep our sights set on You and on the eternal part of our lives. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
